Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring high-risk L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• High Risk/High Volume Labor and Delivery unit with 4 ORs, 31 rooms and 31 beds
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00am-7:30pm
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
• Uses Epic EMR
• Uses electronic fetal monitoring equipment

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at submission
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years of RN experience required, with no exceptions
• 2 years of experience required in high acuity, high-paced environment
• High risk L&D experience strongly preferred, minimum 3 years of high-risk experience required
• Must be able to function in the Baby Nurse role during delivery and provide continued newborn care until postpartum transfer
• Must be able to circulate for deliveries
• Must be able to provide newborn care including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
• Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate required
• Current supervisory references required
• Proof of required certifications required with consideration
• Current Nursys verification required
• Must pass clinical review

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum services
• Perform newborn care and assessments in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and neonatal resuscitation support
• Support high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock management, and cesarean section recovery
• Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, breastfeeding support, and wound assessment
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
• First-time travelers accepted
• Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they do not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Perm employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) eligible for travel contract after 3 months separation
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
