Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor and Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring circulating and newborn care skills.
Details
- Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
- Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- Patient ratio of 1:1-2
- Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring equipment
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00am-7:30pm
- Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and possibly sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
- Minimum of 3-5 years of RN experience in a high acuity, high-paced environment required
- 2 years experience required in high acuity, high-paced environment as a baseline
- High risk L&D experience strongly preferred; candidates with 3+ years and high-risk experience will be considered
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections
- Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery, including newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Must provide newborn care including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
- Experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Current supervisory references required, covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
- Proof of required certifications required for consideration
- Current Nursys verification required for consideration
- Must pass clinical review
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and postpartum care
- Perform newborn care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
- Support antepartum and postpartum patients with conditions such as postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and cesarean recovery
- Provide breastfeeding and lactation support as needed
- Manage pain interventions including epidural anesthesia and medication administration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel candidate and cannot be within 50 miles of the facility
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities as needed
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Time off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
