Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor and Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring circulating and newborn care skills.

Details

• Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit performing all delivery types
• Care for midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services patients, and community care clinic patients
• Unit has 4 ORs, 31 rooms/beds, average daily census of 15, and 500-600 deliveries per month
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and possibly to sister facilities with Mother/Baby units
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Must work every other weekend and holidays as needed

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, with at least 2 years in a high acuity, high pace environment
• High-risk L&D experience required; 5 years preferred
• Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until postpartum transfer
• Must be able to circulate for deliveries and provide newborn care including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
• Current supervisory references required, covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Proof of required certifications and current Nursys license verification required for consideration
• Must pass clinical review

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum phases
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Skilled in high-risk delivery support, hemorrhage/shock management, and postpartum complications care
• Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal resuscitation support
• Support pain management including epidural, general anesthesia, and opioid administration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation and must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at the standard bill rate
• Time off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process; post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
