Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 21-bed general medical observation unit requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience and BLS/ACLS certification.
Details
- 21-bed general medical observation unit (4 West) treating COPD, pneumonia, infections, and UTIs
- Requires comfort managing patients on Bi-Pap and high flow O2
- 12-hour night shift schedule
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope to similar units required
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Med/Surg Tele specialty required
- Cerner EMR experience strongly preferred
- 2 professional references from similar experience (1-2 years) required
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to medically complex patients requiring telemetry and respiratory support
- Must have a verifiable permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility with no exceptions
- Local candidates not accepted
- RTO must be submitted with candidate profile

Cons
The paperwork was sometimes byzantine. They use a version of Epic that is customized to the facility. Someone is always looking over your shoulder and evaluating your fitness for the job. You have to rock that charting!
