Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg/ICU/IMC RN for a 17-week night shift assignment requiring WI or compact RN licensure and ICU experience with pediatric experience preferred.

Details

• Combined MS/ICU/IMC unit within an acute care hospital setting with 20 beds
• Trauma Level 4 facility caring for a primarily elderly population
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: MS 1:5 days/1:6 nights, IMC 1:4, ICU 1:2, Peds 1:3-4
• Diverse patient population including cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, GI, GU, ortho, sepsis, outpatient infusion, and stable pediatric cases
• RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, PCA fentanyl, Propofol, and Norepi
• Tele monitoring is remotely managed by techs, but RNs must be able to read rhythm strips as needed
• Tele monitors are GE ApexPro CH brand
• Charge nurses take a patient assignment; house supervisors do not
• CNA support available on most shifts
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BIPAP, Vapotherm, Servo U, and Hamilton ventilators, with 24/7 RT coverage
• Straight night shifts, 1900-0700
• Block scheduling offered when possible
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Low census may result in on-call rotation, though cancellations are rare
• Floating required in-house to ED, UC, and PACU, and interfacility to Park Falls and Weston
• Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (AHA) required
• ICU experience preferred, with pediatric experience also preferred
• BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a combined medical-surgical, ICU, and IMC unit
• Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, RTs, and house supervisors as part of the care team
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of computer-based training and hospital orientation, plus 1-2 days of shift orientation
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates who previously worked for the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
• Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are eligible but receive a reduced rate
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
