Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Operating Room for a weekend-focused night shift assignment requiring Level I trauma experience and circulating skills.
Details
- Operating Room unit at a short-term acute care hospital with 21 rooms and an average daily census of 70-80
- Core 3 & 4 caseload includes General, Plastic, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Orthopedic, GU, and Colorectal Robotics procedures
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Weekend position requiring every Saturday and Sunday plus one rotating weekday
- On-call requirement of 6 call shifts within a 6 week period, varying schedule
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital to meet facility needs
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Scrubs provided by facility
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
- BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required (screened for over 2 years if candidate has at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience)
- Level I trauma experience required
- Circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Well-rounded and current OR skills across most specialties except CV and Transplant
- Experience with a range of surgical procedures including gynecological, neurological, general surgery, orthopedic, robotic, urologic, and ENT cases
- Da Vinci Xi Surgical System experience preferred
- 2 supervisor references required
- Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
Additional Information
- Circulate and support surgical procedures across multiple specialties including trauma, neuro, ortho, GYN, GU, and colorectal robotics cases
- Float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed to meet staffing demands
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays during the assignment
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates residing within Indiana are accepted at a lower pay package for this Surgical Services position
- Previous PERM or PRN employees of the health system must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within the health system must take a designated break to reset eligibility, with out-of-state residents requiring a 3-month break and in-state residents requiring a 6-month break
