Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level III NICU with a CA RN license, NRP certification, and 3+ years of NICU Level 3 or higher experience required.
Details
- Level III NICU within a children's hospital, Magnet-designated, teaching facility, and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
- Neonatal patient population ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Uses Epic for charting
- Variable day/night shifts on a 3x12 schedule (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
- Weekend availability required with full scheduling flexibility, up to 3 out of 4 weekends in a 4-week period
- No on-call requirements
- Remains within NICU but required to float to sister facilities including Rady Main Campus, Scripps Encinitas, Rancho Springs, Palomar, and Scripps Mercy
- Mid-shift floating may occasionally be required
- No block scheduling accommodations
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required in hand, or license application status must be provided if not yet issued
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of NICU Level 3 or higher experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Delivery hospital experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line blood draw, UAC/UVC management, and administration of blood products and emergency medications
- Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, and neonatal sepsis work-up
- Experience attending high-risk deliveries and providing developmental care
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to a NICU patient population including high-acuity neonates
- Required to work 2 of 3 major holidays (including Eves), including Christmas, with either New Year's or Thanksgiving off
- Maximum RTO of 6 days must be confirmed upfront at submission
- Mileage reimbursement provided for floating to non-home-base facilities at the IRS standard rate
- Any color scrubs permitted
- Free traveler parking available
- First-time travelers accepted if candidate has strong NICU experience
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
- Compliance documents due by the Wednesday prior to start
