Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a pediatric hospital's PICU/L&D unit, requiring RRT certification and 2+ years of children's hospital experience.
Details
- Children's hospital setting, home unit assigned to NICU, PICU, or Peds based on facility need with primary focus on L&D
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
- Floating required to PICU, NICU, and Peds units, as well as to an affiliate hospital nearby
- Uses ventilator management equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and Servo U
- Performs neonatal/pediatric airway management, suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Administers medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
- Cerner charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Current RRT certification through NBRC
- BLS and ACLS certification required, PALS preferred
- NRP certification required if placed in L&D
- Indiana state license required (IN temp accepted if application submitted); license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience with L&D experience
- Children's hospital experience required within the last 3 years; Level I Trauma adult facility experience may be considered
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill pediatric patients across PICU, NICU, and L&D settings
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) as part of clinical assessment
- First-time travelers accepted
- Indiana residents are considered local candidates
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO of 5 days or less is auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility before renewal
