Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role at a community hospital, requiring VA or compact licensure and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Community hospital Emergency Department setting treating combined adult/pediatric patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Epic charting system required
• Floating within scope required as needed
• Treats trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, head injuries, near drowning, and spinal cord injuries
• Provides cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Performs triage and isolation precautions/PPE protocols

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Community hospital ER experience required
• BSN preferred; diploma and Associate degree graduates from ACEN or CCNE accredited schools also accepted
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Certifications preferred: NRP, TNCC
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, interpretation of ABGs, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, CVA care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skills preferred: arterial line management, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury care
• 2 professional references required (supervisor level or above)
• NURSYS or applicable license verification required

Additional Information

• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate with no radius restrictions
• Travelers and permanent staff must be separated from employment for one year before returning as a traveler
• VCU Health employees are not eligible if employed within the previous six to twelve months, depending on contract terms
• ER and Psych candidates must submit to fingerprinting per Virginia code, with average turnaround of 15-20 business days; candidates cannot start with results pending
• Facility maintains a natural nail policy
• Smoke-free and tobacco-free campus
• Orientation includes required training modules via VCU Learning Exchange, to be completed by the Friday of orientation week
• Time-off requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to manager approval; no time off granted during the first week of assignment
• Holidays are not guaranteed off
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
