Description
American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift assignment at an academic medical center, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the ICU of a 303-bed academic medical center
- Rotating night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 1900-0700) with self-scheduling
- No specific rotation cadence, though swaps do not occur within the same or adjacent week
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Cerner charting system used
- Work settings may include Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, and Cardiovascular units
- Cares for patients requiring pre/post cardiac cath intervention and pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: PALS, TNCC
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Past critical care experience required
- Cerner charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory skills required include ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
- Skilled in management of cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring
- Neurological skills required include CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain/spinal cord injury care
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction care, and IV insulin protocols required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive critical care nursing across neuro, surgical, and cardiovascular ICU settings
- Complete lab work within 72 hours of contract signing
- Complete facility training modules during orientation and annually
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this specialty
