Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with prior travel experience and VA or compact RN licensure for a 12-bed specialty unit treating adult patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
Details
- 12-bed specialized inpatient unit (7M Medical Specialty Unit) treating adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
- Care delivered through a multidisciplinary team including physicians, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists
- 1:6 patient ratios
- Night shift, 3x12s, 6:45pm-7:15am, with 4x12 available by request
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Weekend requirement of EOW or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule block
- Floating required within skillset
- May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Proficient in Med/Surg care with Rapid Response/Code team experience
- Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions/PPE
Additional Information
- Provide integrated medical and behavioral health care focused on stabilization, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning
- Support patients experiencing substance withdrawal, behavioral challenges, and mental health concerns
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Must work 1 holiday per 13-week contract
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Local candidates may be accepted subject to facility radius rules
- Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric), certified stroke center, and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
