Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical (Behavioral Health) position requiring prior travel experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 12-bed specialized inpatient unit for adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
• 1:6 patient ratios
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:45p-7:15a, with 4x12 available by request
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule block
• Epic charting system experience required
• Float within skillset required
• May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept

Requirements

• Active VA State or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• BLS certification required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Proficient in Med/Surg care with experience using Rapid Response/Code teams
• Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide integrated medical and behavioral health care including assessment, stabilization, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists
• Support patients experiencing substance withdrawal, behavioral challenges, and mental health concerns
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Must work 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates accepted; radius rules apply to bill rate and extension eligibility
• Previous employees must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) and Magnet-designated teaching facility affiliated with multiple medical schools
