Description
American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a Med/Surg specialty unit requiring prior travel experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- 12-bed inpatient unit for adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
- 1:6 patient ratios
- Night shift, 3x12s (6:45p-7:15a), with 4x12 available by request
- Up to 26 weeks available by request
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Required to float within skillset
- May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept
- EPIC charting experience required
Requirements
- Active VA State or Compact RN license, or single-state license if from a non-compact state
- BLS certification required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Minimum 1 year of charge experience
- Proficient in Med/Surg care including Rapid Response/Code team utilization
- Skilled in peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula use, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tank use, and isolation precautions/PPE
- IV therapy/phlebotomy experience
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience
Additional Information
- Provide integrated medical and behavioral health care including assessment, stabilization, and treatment of patients with substance use disorders and behavioral health needs
- Work within a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists
- Support medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning for successful transitions to community-based care
- Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) and Magnet-designated teaching hospital environment
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Local candidates accepted, subject to radius rule criteria
- Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year gap before returning as a traveler
- Travelers cannot return after having worked 365 total days on assignment, regardless of separation period
