Description

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a Med/Surg specialty unit requiring prior travel experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 12-bed inpatient unit for adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
• 1:6 patient ratios
• Night shift, 3x12s (6:45p-7:15a), with 4x12 available by request
• Up to 26 weeks available by request
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Required to float within skillset
• May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept
• EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

• Active VA State or Compact RN license, or single-state license if from a non-compact state
• BLS certification required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of charge experience
• Proficient in Med/Surg care including Rapid Response/Code team utilization
• Skilled in peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula use, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tank use, and isolation precautions/PPE
• IV therapy/phlebotomy experience
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience

Additional Information

• Provide integrated medical and behavioral health care including assessment, stabilization, and treatment of patients with substance use disorders and behavioral health needs
• Work within a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists
• Support medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning for successful transitions to community-based care
• Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) and Magnet-designated teaching hospital environment
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Local candidates accepted, subject to radius rule criteria
• Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year gap before returning as a traveler
• Travelers cannot return after having worked 365 total days on assignment, regardless of separation period
