Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Behavioral Health unit requiring prior travel experience and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- 12-bed specialized inpatient unit caring for adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
- 1:6 patient ratios
- Night shift schedule, 3x12s with 4x12 available by request, 645p-715a
- Up to 26 weeks available by request
- Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
- Epic charting system experience required
- Floating required within skillset
- May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
Requirements
- Active VA State or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
- BLS certification required
- Prior travel experience required
- 1+ year of experience required
- Proficient in Med/Surg care with experience using Rapid Response/Code teams
- Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions/PPE
Additional Information
- Provide integrated medical and behavioral health care including assessment, stabilization, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists to support patients experiencing substance withdrawal, behavioral challenges, and mental health concerns
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract, with two holidays required during winter holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Local candidates accepted, subject to radius eligibility rules based on distance from the facility
- Previous employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
- Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) and Magnet-designated teaching hospital affiliated with academic medical schools
