Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and an active SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
- 304 staffed beds
- 1:5 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12s, 7p-7a
- Required to work every other weekend
- Rare on-call requirement, limited to first 4 hours if called
- Float within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed
- Epic EMR used, experience required
Requirements
- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team use
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Cardiovascular experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/angiogram, and pre/post cardiac surgery
- Experience with substance withdrawal management and surgical drains
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Provide direct patient care on a busy telemetry unit with cardiac monitoring responsibilities
- Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval based on unit needs
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on position needs
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate
- Must reside within 60 miles for local candidate consideration, with non-local candidates prioritized
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of offer for approval based on facility needs
- Employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September)
