Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
• 304 staffed beds
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12s, 7p-7a
• Required to work every other weekend
• Rare on-call requirement, limited to first 4 hours if called
• Float within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed
• Epic EMR used, experience required

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team use
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Cardiovascular experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/angiogram, and pre/post cardiac surgery
• Experience with substance withdrawal management and surgical drains
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrub color required
• Provide direct patient care on a busy telemetry unit with cardiac monitoring responsibilities
• Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval based on unit needs
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on position needs
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate
• Must reside within 60 miles for local candidate consideration, with non-local candidates prioritized
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of offer for approval based on facility needs
• Employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September)
