Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level NICU position requiring NRP certification and neonatal critical care skills including intubation and umbilical line placement.
Details
- Work in a 6-bed NICU with 5 open bays and 1 isolation room
- Patient ratios of 1:2-3
- Unit staffed by RNs and RTs
- Utilizes GE 650 monitors, Medela breast pumps, syringe pumps, IV pumps, and bili-lights
- Charting done in Meditech and Centricity Perinatal
- Schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00PM-7:00AM)
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
- Ready for huddle at 6:45
- Floating required to Birth Response/Stork Nurse coverage
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- BLS and NRP (Advanced 9th Edition) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- IV insertion experience in preterm and term infants required
- Skilled in caring for and stabilizing critically ill infants requiring vent support, CPAP, UVC placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, and TPN/lipid administration
- Experience with newborn resuscitation, intubation, umbilical line placement, chest tube insertion, and NG/OG feedings
- Strong independent assessment skills with knowledge of signs of declining health in preterm infants
- Strong communication skills and breastfeeding support knowledge
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill neonates including ventilator management and specialized procedures
- Follow AIDET principles to ensure courteous, respectful patient and family experience
- Work in a newly opened NICU (2023) with new equipment and strong collaboration with neonatologists
- Hospital-provided scrubs required; change on arrival and departure
- Block scheduling available
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
