Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a VA or compact license and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Emergency Department with 27 beds staffed by approximately 50 RNs and 25 medics
• Patient ratios of 4-6:1
• Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, and 2-3 medics, increasing by 4-5 RNs at 11am and 1-2 more at 3pm
• Night shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, and 2-3 medics
• Uses Meditech EMR
• 13-week assignment with a schedule of 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM shifts
• No floating required
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend commitment of four weekend shifts within a four-week schedule (Friday or Saturday nights; Saturday or Sunday days)

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2-3 years of ER experience required
• Must have completed 2-3 previous travel assignments
• Experience in high-acuity, high-volume ERs preferred
• Experience with 5:1 patient ratios preferred
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Perform emergency procedures including RSI, sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, psychiatric patient care, and EMTALA transfers to other facilities
• Team environment described as relaxed, easygoing, friendly, and respectful
• Scrub attire required in navy blue or white
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates will not be considered
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to travel experience requirements
