Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role caring for critical care burn, muscle flap, and head/neck surgery patients, requiring vent, telemetry, and Epic experience.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting specializing in burn injuries, muscle flaps, and head and neck surgery patients
- Patient population includes both ICU and Advanced Care level acuity
- Dedicated wound care nurses handle burn wound dressings; travelers are not required to perform these
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- May participate in a team nursing model working alongside LPNs and PCTs, or function in primary nursing depending on unit needs
- Floating required at facility discretion, potentially to main, south, or north campus locations within a 15-mile radius
- Every other weekend and holiday work required
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of hospital nursing experience required; Level I or II trauma experience preferred
- Ventilator patient care experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- IV therapy skills required, including starting and maintaining IVs
- Epic charting experience required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Fit testing for N95 respirator required unless PAPR is provided
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to patients with complex burn, reconstructive, and surgical needs
- Collaborate with a care team that may include LPNs and PCTs under a team nursing model
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, with no changes permitted after an offer is made
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration; local candidates are not accepted
- Former Premier Health employees or previously non-extended agency staff must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered
