Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring recent acute care experience and ACLS/BLS certification.
Details
- Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 30-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit (COVID unit)
- General and ortho trauma stepdown patient population, including chest tubes, drains, and wound vacs
- Patient ratio of 1:4 on both days and nights
- Charge Nurse and Unit Supervisor available and do not carry patient assignments
- PCTs available on days, with 1 PCT or SWAT RN at night for tasking
- Uses Cerner EMR
- GE telemetry monitors with central monitoring station tech support
- House SWAT Nurse available for difficult IV sticks; no dedicated IV team
- RT and Pharmacy coverage available 24/7
- 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7am
- Required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days)
- Required to work 1 major and 1 minor holiday
- First to float among staff, with floating to MedSurg Tele C5 and B2C
- 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required, within the past 6 months
- Must be able to read telemetry strips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer, with a maximum of 2 attempts
- Must pass a pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a general and ortho trauma stepdown unit
- Utilizes 1:1 PCT sitters for confused patients and soft restraints for line pulling
- Spectralink phones used with call light attached
- Navy scrub color required
- Study guides provided ahead of Sim Lab testing on first day of orientation
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with this health system within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms will be considered
