Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring open heart, ECMO, Impella, and balloon pump experience.

Details

• CVICU unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Receives patients directly from the OR who are sedated, intubated, and on multiple drips
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 1900-0700
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to ED, ICU, and CVIMC as needed
• 1:1-2 patient ratio
• Uses specialized equipment including Swan-Ganz catheter, temporary pacer, pericardial and pleural chest tubes, Impella, IABP, CRRT, and Prismaflex
• Responsible for ventilator management and titration of gtts

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Open heart experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with post cardiac surgery care directly from the OR required
• Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and continuous IV sedation required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Experience managing and interpreting dysrhythmias required
• ECMO, sheath removal, and TAVR experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Two professional references required, from assignments within the last year and ideally within 6 months of start date

Additional Information

• Provide direct post-operative cardiac surgery care in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Float within the hospital as needed to support patient care needs
• Previous staff or travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year and in good standing to be eligible for return
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates will not be accepted
