Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift role at a Level I and II trauma hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and NICU/pediatric background preferred.

Details

• Work within a Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics department at a Level I and II trauma hospital
• Night shift schedule alternating 4x8 and 5x8 hours from 1830-0300, totaling 72 hours per pay period
• Weekend rotation includes every other Saturday and Sunday, approximately 3 weekends in a six-week block
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Work settings include Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatrics, and Transports

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• NICU/Pediatric RRT experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and II experience required
• Active RRT license required (license required if applicable), MN license accepted pending but must be obtained by start date
• NBRC RRT certification required
• ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Proficiency in ventilator management including CPAP, BiPAP, IMV, and high frequency oscillator
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with arterial blood gas drawing and interpretation
• Experience caring for patients with ARDS, COVID, cystic fibrosis, and other respiratory conditions

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy care across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations
• Perform neonatal/pediatric procedures such as high-risk delivery assistance, bubble CPAP, and neonatal transports
• Administer a variety of medications via aerosol, MDI, and other delivery systems
• Participate in care of infants and children with conditions such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia, RSV, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Scrub color required is Dove Gray
• Holiday coverage required as needed by the facility
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Candidates must live more than 25 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• Required lab work and Minnesota Livescan fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signing, with fingerprinting done in person in Minnesota prior to the start date
