Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Facility performs 200-300 births per month at a teaching hospital
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Cares for patients with labor and preterm labor diagnoses
- Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
- Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrub, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D care
- Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries, GYN surgeries, couplet care, low risk antepartum, and transition nursery
- Utilizes blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vac
- Administers heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Float required to Post-Partum and possibly Labor & Delivery at Swedish First Hill
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and C-section recovery
- Proficient in sterile vaginal exams and fetal monitoring
- Experience with IUPC placement and calibration
- Skilled in pain management including epidural anesthesia and IV PCA use
- Experience with postpartum and antepartum care and procedures
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, may include Charge RNs or Leads
Additional Information
- First-time travelers accepted with minimum 2 years of experience
- Up to 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's/New Year's Eve) may be requested off
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius for local rate eligibility
- Both 13-week and 26-week contracts will be considered
- Float required between sister facilities within the state as needed
- Former permanent employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) may be eligible for a travel contract after a 3-month separation
- Former permanent staff at this facility must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as permanent staff, travel contractor, or registry/per-diem
