Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency at a well-regarded teaching hospital.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, and high-risk antepartum cases
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN care, pre-op/post-op care, scrub duties, low-risk antepartum, and low-risk L&D care
- Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
- Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
- Provides couplet care and transition nursery support
- Performs special procedures including blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket use, epidural and PCA pump management, and wound vac care
- Administers medications including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Floating required to Post-Partum and possibly to L&D at Swedish First Hill
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line maintenance (CVC/PICC)
- Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Proficient in labor and delivery management, including assisting with high-risk deliveries and circulating/recovering C-sections
- Skilled in sterile vaginal exams, epidural anesthesia support, and pain management including IV PCA use
- Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and obstetrical triage
- Knowledge of antepartum, postpartum care, and wound assessment
- Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
- Teaching hospital setting known for strong staff camaraderie, including book clubs and group dinners
- May request up to 2 major holidays off, with a requirement to work at least 1 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Eve, or New Year's/Eve)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Radius rule of 50 miles applies for returning staff eligibility
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they do not live within 50 miles of the facility
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the same state
- Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
- RTO requests should be submitted upfront during the application process to avoid delays in offer approval
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
