Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and ACLS/BLS certification.

Details

• Medical ICU setting with some surgical patients, mainly GI or carotid cases
• Unit admits from a very active 24/7 Cath Lab
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Weekend requirement, varies/flexible
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to AAU and MS units, or to an affiliate hospital nearby
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start date
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing multi-system organ failure
• Experience with pre/post cardiac cath/intervention care
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Experience with GI surgery patients
• Experience with chronic/acute renal failure care
• Arterial line management experience
• Blood product administration experience
• Central line and PICC line care/management experience
• Continuous IV sedation experience
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• BiPAP and CPAP management experience
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and HFNC use
• Skilled in ABG interpretation and ventilator management
• Suctioning experience (ETT, NT)
• Infection prevention and isolation/PPE protocol knowledge
• 2 supervisor references required
• RN must have graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a heavy medical ICU with active cardiac cath involvement
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved, additional days require facility approval
• Scrub color requirement: red top, black bottoms
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local IN residents are not accepted for this position
• Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
