Description
American Traveler is seeking a PICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active AK RN license, 2+ years of PICU experience, and PALS certification.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric ICU of an acute care hospital
- PICU patient ratio is 1:2, with ventilated patients typically 1:1 due to unit layout
- Pediatric floor ratio is 1:4
- Support staff includes CNAs and a med clerk; charge nurse typically does not carry patients
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required
- Float requirement within scope to NICU and Peds units as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling accommodated
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at time of application with proof of AK license application submitted
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience with pediatric ratios of 1:4 preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skills in ventilator management, central line care, IV therapy, and pediatric medication administration preferred
- Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients, including ventilated and post-surgical cases
- Navy scrub color required
- Magnet-designated facility with 152 staffed beds
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted
- Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination compliance required
