Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 32-bed medical/surgical unit focused on innovative nursing practice and new technology adoption
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• PM shift required every other weekend
• Floating required to cover staffing needs as needed
• Self-scheduling with rotating weekly groups
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Contract length flexible from 8-26 weeks

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line management, and PICC line care
• Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and ostomy management preferred
• Experience with insulin protocols and renal failure management preferred
• Telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Fit testing required; candidates must be clean-shaven or provide an approved medical exemption letter prior to starting

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on an innovative medical/surgical unit utilizing Hercules beds and new technology
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• RTO policy limits time off based on number of holidays falling within the assignment
• Zero-tolerance drug policy in place; medical marijuana cards not accepted
• Drug screening required both during compliance and again on first day onsite
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Previous perm employees at the facility within the last 24 months are not eligible
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
