Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring a CT/compact license, prior travel experience, and Level I trauma center background.

Details

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) setting within a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Manages patients with airway needs, IV drips, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Floating required to step-down unit as needed
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR used, experience required

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (1.5 years considered for Level I trauma or travel experience)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Level I and/or Level II trauma center experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, ventilator care, ABG interpretation, continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and cardiac dysrhythmia management
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to surgically complex ICU patients including airway and hemodynamic management
• Located within a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center with over 1,000 staffed beds
• Must be able to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required unless religious or medical exemption applies
• Requests for RTO beyond 7 days require additional approval
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Previous perm staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
