Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift hospital position requiring an active RRT license and BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.

• Cardiopulmonary care unit providing respiratory therapy services
• Night shift, 3 days per week, 6:00p-6:30a
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Current IL Respiratory Therapist license required
• License required if applicable
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS
• RRT certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience preferred
• Strong computer skills with ability to navigate EMR programs

Additional Information

• Perform respiratory assessments, initial screenings, and reassessments tailored to patient age, culture, and psycho-social needs
• Determine treatment requirements including therapy type, method, duration, and medication dosages per physician orders
• Develop and evaluate patient/family teaching plans, including pain management and discharge planning
• Monitor physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
• Administer respiratory medications based on patient age and clinical condition
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and lung capacity tests
• Perform routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and calibration assistance
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in electronic and chart form
• Follow established safety and hand-off communication protocols
• Participate in performance improvement activities
