Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) telemetry unit position requiring at least 2 years of recent experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC)/PCU/Stepdown unit of a hospital
• Cares for cardiac telemetry patients including post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization cases
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every third weekend required
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state license or compact license) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response teams
• Skilled in central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with blood product administration, phlebotomy, and port access
• Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and non-invasive airway management including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Knowledge of heparin protocols and renal failure/hemodialysis management
• Wound care and wound vac experience required
• Tracheostomy management and isolation precautions experience required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-based nursing care with on-unit cardiac monitoring for IMC/stepdown patients
• Manage feeding tubes, post-hemodialysis care, and CVA patients as part of daily responsibilities
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue scrubs or navy blue pants with a white top required
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
