Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) telemetry unit position requiring at least 2 years of recent experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details
- Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC)/PCU/Stepdown unit of a hospital
- Cares for cardiac telemetry patients including post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization cases
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Every third weekend required
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Cerner EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD state license or compact license) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Cerner charting system experience required
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response teams
- Skilled in central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
- Experience with blood product administration, phlebotomy, and port access
- Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and non-invasive airway management including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula
- Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Knowledge of heparin protocols and renal failure/hemodialysis management
- Wound care and wound vac experience required
- Tracheostomy management and isolation precautions experience required
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry-based nursing care with on-unit cardiac monitoring for IMC/stepdown patients
- Manage feeding tubes, post-hemodialysis care, and CVA patients as part of daily responsibilities
- Scrubs not provided; navy blue scrubs or navy blue pants with a white top required
- Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
- Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
