Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown Telemetry position requiring MD or compact RN license and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details

• IMC/Stepdown unit within a hospital setting
• Cardiac telemetry patient population including post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, CVA, and renal failure cases
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every third weekend required
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response team utilization
• Skilled in central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
• Skilled in blood product administration, phlebotomy, and port access/management
• Experience with non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience with ABG interpretation, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), and oxygen administration
• Experience with heparin protocols, feeding tube care, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions experience required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
• Flu vaccine required

Additional Information

• Provide bedside cardiac telemetry care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
• Manage complex patient needs including renal, respiratory, and cardiovascular care
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue scrubs or navy blue pants with white top required
• Must reside within 60 miles for local rate eligibility, with address matching driver's license
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
