Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a Level II Trauma teaching hospital requiring AWHONN Advanced, NRP Advanced, and CA RN licensure.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within an acute care, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level II Trauma designation
- 1:2 nurse to patient ratio
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00-19:00
- Weekend requirement of 2 weekends every 6 weeks, which may include Friday nights
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required outside of scope
- Not open to block scheduling
- Facility volume ranges from fewer than 100 to over 300 births annually
- Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS, AWHONN Advanced, NRP Advanced (all 11 components), and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certifications required
- ACLS and EFM certifications also required
- Minimum 1-2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Vaginal exam ability/experience required
- Baby care ability/experience required
- Pending licenses not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients including vaginal exams and newborn care
- Strict dress code: no facial hair, acrylic nails, unnatural hair colors, visible piercings other than earlobe earrings, and all tattoos must be covered
- Scrubs may be any color except camouflage or character patterns
- Holiday time off requests limited to one request, though staff are typically expected to work holidays
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates accepted at standard bill rate
- Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Free parking available on-site

Cath lab is super traveler friendly, easygoing docs, nice coworkers, super easy to get to the facility from surrounding areas, great about scheduling what you needed off, LOTS of outdoor activities to do within an hour of here! Safe gated parking area (called the Cage), hospital is clean and welcoming, staff usually pretty great in all areas I went.
Cons
DO NOT STAY IN POMONA, stay in surrounding areas (San Dimas, La Verne, Covina, Glendora, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Claremont are all good).
