Description
American Traveler is seeking an Operating Room RN for a day-shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of OR experience and on-call availability.
Details
- Operating Room unit within an acute care medical center and critical access hospital
- Level IV Trauma facility with 46 acute care beds and 22 long-term care beds
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts (7:00 AM-3:30 PM)
- On-call responsibilities required, including weekend on-call
- No floating required within the OR department, though floating between sister facilities in the state may be expected
- Open to accommodating block scheduling
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year of OR nursing experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with a variety of surgical specialties including thoracic, general surgery, orthopedic, and urologic procedures
- Proficiency in emergency management, fire safety, infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and specimen handling
- Experience with universal protocol (time-out) procedures and wound management
- Experience with cell saver equipment
- Pre-op/PACU skills preferred
- Compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Perform circulating and scrub duties across general surgery, orthopedic, urologic, and thoracic surgical cases
- Scrub attire is any color or business casual
- Free parking available
- Facility provides housing, typically 1-bedroom apartments, with no pets allowed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility for consideration at the local rate
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests are considered based upon submission but should be minimized to expedite the offer process
