Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg LTAC position requiring 2+ years of LTACH experience and current KY or compact RN licensure.
Details
- LTAC unit setting including ICU, Med/Surg, Med/Surg/Tele, and PCU care areas
- 1:4 to 1:5 patient ratios depending on unit
- Uses Meditech EMR (preferred experience)
- Night shift rotation of 3x12 and 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30), totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within scope of practice
- No blocked scheduling accommodations
Requirements
- Active KY or compact RN license in hand required at time of consideration
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of current LTACH experience required
- MS/Tele or ICU experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care preferred
- Proficiency in IV therapy including central, arterial, and PICC line management
- Experience with complex wound care and infection prevention/isolation precautions
- Driver's license required, with address matching permanent address
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and critical care nursing within an LTAC setting
- Administer and monitor medications including antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, vasopressors, and thrombolytics
- Manage complex respiratory, renal, endocrine, cardiovascular, GI, and neurological patient needs
- Two professional references required, including one charge-level or higher and one supervisor reference, both completed within the last year
- Must reside within 75 miles of the facility to be eligible, though local candidates are not accepted
- RTO limited to up to 7 days and must be submitted upfront with no changes; must work a major or minor shift on every holiday
- Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
- Returning travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after completing one year in the system before becoming eligible again
- This is a single 13-week contract with no extensions approved
