Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Work on a 14-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with 12 private and 2 semi-private rooms
- Care for vascular disease patients ranging from young adults to geriatrics
- May also admit general medical-surgical and telemetry overflow patients
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- Floating required
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
- Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management required
- Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications required
- Respiratory skills required including oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and oral suctioning; non-invasive airway management preferred
- Cardiac monitoring skills required including telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation, with dysrhythmia management and telemetry monitoring preferred
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code team activation required
- Renal/genitourinary skills preferred, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Wound care/wound vac experience required
Additional Information
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered as locals
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- All RTO must be disclosed at the time of consideration
- Onboarding requires completion of core items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
- Orientation includes onsite completion of training modules
