Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a fast-paced night shift unit requiring prior travel assignment experience and NC or compact licensure.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit caring for a mix of GI, renal, surgical, and cardiac telemetry patients with 10 tele beds for cardiac monitoring
- Target patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally 1:7 during high-volume periods
- Fast-paced environment with roughly a third of beds turning over daily
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
- 36-48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to other med/surg units/floors as needed
- Uses PYXIS, Epic, and SBAR charting systems
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of true Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Must have completed two prior travel assignments due to complexity of the unit
- IV start skills required
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and medication administration including heparin protocols preferred
- Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution/PPE experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for a complex mixture of GI, renal, surgical, and cardiac telemetry patients
- 36-hour unit orientation provided, followed by weekly orientation sessions
- Scrub color requirement: navy and/or white
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Travel pairs are allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
