Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with ECMO Specialist experience for a night shift role in adult critical care at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Details
- Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit in a Short Term Acute Care, Magnet, teaching, Level III Trauma hospital
- Adult critical care patient population with 1:6 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (1830-0700), with occasional day shift coverage as needed
- Will work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Will float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
- Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
- ECMO Specialist role supporting protocol-driven ECMO therapy
Requirements
- RRT, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- State license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years RRT experience and 1 year ECMO Specialist experience required
- Adult Critical Care setting experience required
- Epic/Excellian charting experience required
- Experience with airway management including intubation/extubation assist, tracheostomy care, and suctioning
- Experience administering respiratory medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Nitric Oxide, and others
- Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Arterial puncture and ABG interpretation experience required
- Experience with oxygen therapy delivery including HFNC, bag and mask, and trach collar
- Chest physiotherapy and nebulizer treatment experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care and ECMO specialist support to critically ill adult patients
- Perform airway management, ventilator management, and pulmonary hygiene procedures as part of a critical care team
- Participate in patient transport including inter-departmental and ambulance transport
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have at least 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience
- Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
- Returning staff must have been gone at least 3 months from their last perm (staff or per diem) shift
- RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
- Ceil Blue scrubs provided, or Olive Green may be worn if traveler owns them
