Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active Minnesota RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg Neuro experience.

Details

• Work on a 45-bed Neuroscience Spine Unit, including 8 beds in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) step-down unit
• Team nursing model on the general Neuro Spine unit with RN, LPN, and NA staff; primary nurse model (RN, NA) in the NPCU
• Patient ratios of 6-7 (Team RN/LPN/NA), 5 (RN/LPN), 4 (RN/NA), or 1:3 in the NPCU
• Unit uses ICP monitoring, arterial line monitoring, cardiac monitoring, remote cardiac monitoring, continuous EEG monitoring, and lumbar drainage systems
• Ceiling lifts available in 20 patient rooms
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend rotation required with rotating holiday coverage
• On-call requirements determined by unit need
• May float to similar units including surgical care, medical units, and inpatient rehab units
• Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active Minnesota RN license required (not a compact state); pending license accepted with proof of submission date
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• Rapid Response Team experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Level II Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code team protocols as part of unit workflow
• Must not reside within 25 miles of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per assignment, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks
• All RTO requests must be disclosed and approved prior to starting
• Required to complete lab work within 48 hours of signing the contract
• Minnesota state law requires in-person Livescan fingerprinting completed the Monday prior to the scheduled start date
• Holiday coverage required as needed by the facility
