Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and MO or compact licensure.

Details

• Short term acute care hospital setting on a Med/Surg-Telemetry float pool
• Floats to Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Neuro, Renal, and Cardiology units
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for days/weekends and 1:6 for nights
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• Required to work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC charting system used
• Float pool clinicians call a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment unless pre-assigned

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV start and Telemetry certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry required
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Ability to use lift devices and ceiling lifts (training provided) and bladder scanner

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Neuro, and Cardiology units as part of float pool responsibilities
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers accepted
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
