Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases and NJ or compact RN license.
Details
- CVICU unit within an academic Level I Trauma Center hospital
- Patients requiring cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO
- Patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2+
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- 2 years of recent CVICU experience required (SICU experience considered if initial training was in CVICU)
- Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Proficiency in arterial lines, central/PICC lines, blood product administration, and IV therapy required
- Experience with continuous IV paralytics/sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and IV insulin protocols required
- Chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and ABG interpretation skills required
- Experience with CVVHD/CRRT, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and lumbar drains required
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead EKG skills required
- Phlebotomy and infection prevention/isolation precaution skills required
- Previous charge experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and VAD placement
- Must be able to work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Part of a Comprehensive Cardiac Center accredited by The Joint Commission and American Heart Association
- First-time travelers welcome to apply

- Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
