Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring at least 3 years of ED experience and an IN or compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Work in a combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department at a Level II Trauma Center
• Unit has 48 beds that can flex up to 62 beds using hall beds as needed
• Staffing ratio does not exceed 1:4 for regular ED patients, with hold assignments up to 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds
• Averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day
• Day shift schedule, 3x12s or 4x12s, 11:00-23:30
• Charge nurse responsibilities required
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required in hand
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience required
• Level II trauma center experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilated patient care required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required
• Graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population, including trauma, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies
• Work as part of a team floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• IN residents are not accepted as local candidates for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility before reapplying
