Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV academic medical center, requiring 2+ years of Level III NICU experience and an active NJ or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30) in a 21-bed NICU and 16-bed SCN
  • Caring for neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks gestation; unit will not attend high-risk deliveries
  • Ratios of 1:2 in NICU and 1:3-4 in SCN
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • Floating required within skillset to Newborn, Peds, and PICU

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
  • 2+ years of current Level III NICU experience required
  • Skilled in developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, BG monitoring, phototherapy, isolation/PPE, and sepsis workup
  • Experience with blood/blood product administration, A-line management, central/implanted line care, IV starts/maintenance, and UAC/UVC
  • Proficient with neonatal medications including anti-seizure, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, steroids, surfactants, and insulin, with accurate neonatal dose calculations
  • Experience with breastfeeding support, breast milk handling, and bottle/breast/gavage feedings, NEC care, and oral/NG/NJ tube placement
  • Respiratory skills including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, meconium aspiration care, oxygen delivery systems, RDS management, ETT/NT suctioning, Vapotherm, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
  • Preferred skills include charge experience, jet vents, oscillators, ECMO, CritiCool body cooling, and receiving neonates via transport

  • Provide advanced neonatal critical care within an academic medical center setting known for high-frequency ventilation, ECMO, and therapeutic hypothermia
  • Part of a large integrated healthcare system offering complex medical and surgical neonatal interventions
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
