Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role requiring an active NY RN license, ACLS/BLS certification, and 1 year of relevant experience.
Details
- PCU setting with 12 beds and 1:3 patient-to-nurse ratios on all shifts
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
- Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required
- Floating required to Med-Surg units
- Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory needs (BiPAP, High Flow, Vent/Trach), ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and CPORTS cases
- Uses CADD pumps and PCA pumps
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- Current ACLS and BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
- Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement
- Skilled in central line care/management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience managing tracheostomy care
- Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Care for medically complex patients requiring intensive nursing support
- Navy blue and white scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
- Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO) will not be considered
- Call-off policy allows up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
