Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring 2+ years of cath lab experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Cath Lab unit with 6 procedure rooms and a daily census of 15-20 adult patients
  • Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and ASD/PFO closures
  • Advanced procedures performed include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, and renal denervation
  • Equipment used includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
  • Epic charting system required
  • Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 7:30am-6:00pm
  • On-call requirement of 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts per 6-week period, including one full weekend (Fri-Sun) and one Saturday for elective cases
  • Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called for on-call shifts
  • Required to work or take call one holiday per 13-week contract in rotation with staff

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license (in hand or pending, with emergency authorization available while permanent VA license processes)
  • ACLS and BLS certification required; CCI RCIS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cath lab experience required, 3+ years preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
  • Scrub experience required
  • Proficient in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition/interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
  • Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy required
  • Knowledgeable in isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • 1:1 patient ratio experience required

Additional Information

  • Work in an acute care teaching hospital with over 700 licensed beds, a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet designation, and certified stroke center status
  • Facility is nationally recognized for cardiac cath lab excellence with American College of Cardiology accreditation for PCI procedures
  • Support provided by a multidisciplinary team with adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Local candidates are not accepted; radius rules apply based on driver's license address
  • Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler
  • Facility does not allow travelers to return after working 365 days on assignment, regardless of separation period, with case-by-case exceptions reviewed by leadership
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront with the application
