Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment on a 33-bed rehab and medical surgical unit requiring a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- 33-bed adult Medical Surgical unit (no telemetry) with inpatient rehab patient population
- Common diagnoses include SCVA, SCI, TBI, amputee, and multi-trauma cases
- Patient ratios of 1:6, may flex up to 1:7
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
- Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract (2 holidays required during winter holiday period)
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
- Required to float to CRMH Med/Surg units (11W, 10W, 9W, and 5W) if needed
- EPIC charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Active VA State or Compact RN license required (single-state license from non-compact state accepted only if pending)
- BLS certification required
- CRRN certification preferred
- CPI Blue certification highly preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Experience in Med Surg and Rehab settings required
- Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and rapid response/code teams required
- Previous charge experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to rehab and med surg patients with complex diagnoses including stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI, amputation, and multi-trauma
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a break of at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case by facility leadership
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
- Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are considered local and are generally not accepted, with limited exceptions for reduced-rate or non-extendable assignments for those living 50-99.9 miles or less than 50 miles away
