Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital, requiring recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience and CRT or RRT certification.

Details

  • Acute care inpatient setting covering all hospital floors and units
  • Level 1 trauma center
  • Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics
  • Utilizes EPIC EMR
  • Vent equipment includes Drager, Servo I, and Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
  • BiPAP equipment includes Vision, V60, V30, and Respironics S/T
  • High flow equipment includes AIRVO2
  • Performs EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry
  • 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, with team scheduling
  • Weekend rotation of every third weekend on days
  • Holiday rotation in line with permanent staff
  • Floats to different areas throughout the hospital in the RT capacity
  • Hospitalist or intensivist coverage in house 24/7
  • Lead RT present on each shift
  • Traveler will never be the sole in-house RT

Requirements

  • Active state or compact RT license required if applicable
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) via NBRC required; RRT also accepted
  • NRP and PALS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required
  • Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify address for radius eligibility
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

  • 3 shifts (12 hours each) of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Work alongside a collaborative team of RTs, providers, and nursing staff
  • Opportunity to work across different levels of patient care each day
  • Success in this role benefits from strong time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
  • PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Candidates may not currently be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity
  • Minimum requested time off is 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract, submitted upfront; additional time off requests will not be approved after submission
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
