Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring telemetry or med-surg with telemetry experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Community based hospital in High Point, NC with 304 licensed beds and a teaching status including interns, residents, APPs, and nursing students
- Unit is a 4-bed Progressive Care Unit with an average daily census of 4
- Cares for cardiac patients (NSTEMI, STEMI, post-cardiac intervention, EP procedures, heart failure), post-stroke patients, and post-surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, or hemodynamic support
- Cares for respiratory failure patients requiring medium/high flow oxygen or NIPPV
- RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions, with CNA support available
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
- EOW (every other weekend) rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Float within the critical care division or Intermediate Care as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR, Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips Intellivue monitors in all rooms
- RT available 24/7 and Hospitalist coverage available 24/7
- Rapid Response Team available
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical with telemetry or progressive care experience required
- Skilled in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip/rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, and titration of cardiac drips
- Experience with non-invasive ventilator care (BiPAP/CPAP), vascular lines, chest tubes/drains, and post-procedure site care (trans-radial bands, femoral sheaths, post-EP pacemaker/ICD, post-pulmonary artery thrombectomy)
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

- Responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation with support from Telemetry Techs
- Clinical interview required
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Royal blue scrubs required

- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning as a traveler
