Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- May be required to float within the facility
- Involves antepartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care
- Handles vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Uses external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
- Performs neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC) preferred
- Experience with cervical cerclage and tubal ligation procedures preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including pain management and emergency cardiac monitoring
- Administers medications such as Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin
- Performs fetal monitoring and recognizes abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
- Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
- RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this assignment
