Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a resource pool float position requiring NY RN licensure, Epic experience, and floating across multiple units.

Details

  • Resource pool/float RN position covering M/S Tele units R5, R6, and R7 plus ED Hold coverage in the emergency department
  • Patient populations include Med Surg Oncology (R5), Med Surg Ortho (R6), and Med Surg Urology/ALC (R7), ages 25-99
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on R5 and R6, and 1:5 on R7, with possible adjustments
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
  • Floating required across R5, R6, R7, and potentially other telemetry units as scheduled
  • Every other weekend work required
  • No on-call requirements
  • No charge nurse responsibilities
  • Uses Epic for documentation, currently transitioning medication system from MAK to Epic
  • Special equipment includes IV pumps and bladder scanners
  • CNA/PCT and unit clerk support available on all units
  • Respiratory therapy support available 24/7, with ventilator management handled by ICU respiratory staff

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required in packet at time of submission
  • AHA BLS certification required; CMSRN preferred
  • NIHSS certification required prior to starting
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience required, including 1 year in specialty
  • Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required, non-negotiable
  • Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained

Additional Information

  • Perform IVs, bladder scans, blood draws from central lines, and glucose monitoring
  • M/S Tele nurses may be assigned to work ED Hold patients in the emergency department
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve
  • One day of orientation provided
  • Dress code requires navy blue and white solid-colored scrubs, comfortable shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard, and no acrylic nail polish
  • Trauma Level 2 facility
  • Not a teaching facility and teaching hospital experience not required
  • No block schedules permitted
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended as public transportation is not accessible in the area
  • All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles during November through April
  • Local candidates accepted, with rate tiers based on direct-line mileage: local (50 miles or less), radius (51-100 miles), and travel (101+ miles)
