Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown/IMU position requiring 2+ years of stepdown experience and telemetry/drip titration skills.
Details
- Acute care setting on an 18-bed Stepdown/IMU unit
- Patient population includes post-MI with sheath pull, ADHS, postop vascular, GI bleed, and DKA cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
- RNs required to titrate drips including Nitroglycerine, Neo, and Cardene
- Telemetry monitoring on all patients with RNs reading their own strips
- One PCT staffed per shift
- RT equipment on unit includes BiPap and CPAP
- EPIC EMR used
- 12-hour night shifts, weekends every other week
- Holiday coverage on rotating schedule (approximately every other holiday)
- Floating required on a PRN basis
- No call or standby requirements
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Stepdown-level clinical experience required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- EKG competency testing required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to stepdown-level patients including drip titration and telemetry monitoring
- Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are both available, with charge nurses typically not carrying a patient assignment
- Royal blue scrubs required; undershirts may be white, royal blue, or black
- Unit-specific orientation provided upon start
- Radius rule of 50 miles applies (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital); local candidates not accepted
- Previous WVU Medicine travelers must complete a 2-year break before reapplying, with a 1-year cumulative work limit at WVU facilities
- Former permanent staff at Princeton Community, Potomac Valley, and Garrett Regional are not eligible to return as travelers
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
