Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring at least 2 years of critical care experience and Cerner or EPIC experience.

Details

• 12-hour shift schedule, 36-48 hours per week on a 4-week cycle
• Shift options include 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, and 3p-3a
• 71-bed high acuity Level II ED functioning as a Level I
• Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatric, and psychiatric cases
• Patient ratios are 1:4 ER, 1:5 MS Holds, and 1:3 ICU Holds
• Unit support includes CNA (1:12 ratio), receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy until 0300, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist
• No telemetry monitoring tech support on the unit
• Uses Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
• No floating required
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend rotation of every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule

Requirements

• Active RN license (AL state or compact) required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER) required, with most recent year in a Level II ER
• Level II Trauma or higher experience required
• Cerner or EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills required include trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tube, arterial line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley catheter, splint/ortho device application, BiPAP/HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigation

Additional Information

• 522-bed facility functioning as a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center
• Not a teaching facility
• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute and critical patient presentations
• New to facility or returning travelers (gone 1+ years) receive 24 hours classroom orientation and 24 hours on-unit orientation
• Rehire orientation depends on last date worked at facility
• One major and one minor seasonal holiday coverage expected per policy; specific days off not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival
• Up to 7 days of time off can be approved excluding facility blackout dates
• Scrub color: any solid color
• Parking available in parking garage
• First-time travelers considered if they have at least 2 years of experience, Cerner or EPIC experience, and Level II Trauma or higher experience
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 60-mile radius
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
